Your questions answered
What are common symptoms of cancer?
Common symptoms include unexplained weight loss, fatigue, lumps, persistent pain, changes in skin, and unusual bleeding. Symptoms vary depending on the type of cancer.
How is cancer diagnosed?
We use tests like imaging (X-ray, CT scan, MRI), some blood tests, and biopsy (removing tissue to examine under a microscope).
How is cancer surgery different from other surgeries?
Cancer surgery is a procedure to remove a tumor and sometimes nearby tissue or lymph nodes to treat or diagnose cancer. Cancer surgery is based on oncological clearance, which means no cancer tissue is left behind and whole of it is removed in one complete block.
When is surgery used for cancer?
Surgery is used when the cancer is localized and can be removed. It may also be used along with chemotherapy or radiation.
Will I need other treatments after surgery?
Many patients need additional treatments like chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or targeted therapy to reduce recurrence risk.
